Christmas Tree Farm Cake πŸŒ²πŸŒ²

Hello world! Happy new year!!!

Hey guys! So…. After my terrible attempt at blogmas went completely wrong, I decided to just post now some of the blogs that I’ve already wrote/ planned (like this one) and move on! I’m excited for the future. Anyhow! I decided to make another Taylor Swift related post, and share with you how I made a Christmas cake inspired by Taylor’s Christmas song, Christmas Tree Farm!! I used my mum’s recipe, so it turned out really well. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

(for the cake)

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1 bag of vanilla extract powder (100g)
  • 1 1/2 cups of self-raising flour
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 cups orange juice

(for the icing) by CupcakeJemma

  • 150g unsalted butter, soft
  • 340g icing sugar, sifted
  • 3-4 tbsp whole milk/milk infusion/juice/other liquid

Step one-

Pre- heat the oven to about 180C. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Put the yolks on the side in a small bowl, you’ll need it later. Put the egg whites inside of the mixer, and add the sugar. Mix it, until it looks something like this.

Step two-

Now, slowly but surely add the rest of the ingredients (including the egg yolks), while still mixing. It should take a few minutes, mix everything until all of the ingredients blend with each other. Mine turned out looking something like this (see picture). Afterwards pour your mix into a rounded tray (you can use a different shape if you’d like of course, obviously it won’t change the cake in any way lol). You can pick up the tray and gently drop it or tap it in order to release air bubbles. Mine wouldn’t go away and the cake still turned out fine so don’t worry about it too much πŸ™‚

Step Three-

Take your tray and place it in the pre-heated oven for at least 20 minutes. Wait until the cake looks golden, and poke it with a butter knife or a toothpick to see that it’s ready. Mine ended up looking like this.

Step four-

OKAY, now your cake is ready! You can let it cool down and leave it as it is, or continue to decorate it with me. I left it to cool down for about 30-40 minutes , and in the meantime made my icing. I followed CupcakeJemma‘s recipe. Basically take the butter and mix it until it’s all fluffy and about twice its’ size. Then, slowly add the icing sugar, a little bit at a time, while still mixing. If needed, add a bit of milk until everything looks like you’d want it to. It should be looking like this.

Step five-

Now, decorate it!! You can do whatever you want. Because I’m making a “Christmas Tree Farm” inspired cake, I used green and red food coloring to color some of the icing, while leaving some white icing in a different bowl. Then, I leveled the cake until I was satisfied with it, and covered it with white icing.

Step six-

Now I simply decorated the cake- I took the green icing and drew big pine trees using a toothpick. I then wrote on the cake “Christmas Tree Farm” using the red food coloring. The cake is delicious, and so is the icing, so even though it ended up looking funny I really liked it- and so did my family! I hope you enjoy / enjoyed making your version of this cake as well :))

AND THAT’S IT!

Happy new year everybody! I had the best time ever with you this month, and this year. I’m really happy with how this blog has done this year. I’d like to thank you all so much for everything! <33 TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! If you go out to celebrate, take a mask! Wear it! Drink water! I love you, you’re doing amazing.

Toodles! See you in 2021!! πŸ₯‚

2020 Podcast Recommendations πŸŽ§

Hello world, and welcome to blogmas day four!!

Hey everyone, how are you? I hope you’re doing well. I’m actually writing today’s blog early for a change, so hey, I might even put it up on time lol. So not a lot changed since yesterday. I’ve had some time to read, so I got really further into my book while listening to “folklore” on my record player. Now I’m just catching up on some people’s vlogmas, while typing this.

This year was a bloody weird one, and since usually I listen to my podcasts on the bus, I didn’t have as many listening sessions as I do every year. But still, some podcasts helped keep me company while I was at home, hanging up the laundry or washing the dishes. And I thought- well, might as well share them with you! So grab yourself a cup of tea, your headphones, open your listening up, and let’s get into them podcasts.

Pretty Basic

So the first podcast I will talk about today is “Pretty Basic” with Alisha Marie and Remi Cruz. I’ve been watching Alisha and Remi’s vlogs and videos for a while now, and got super excited when I found their podcast, two years ago. Alisha and Remi are both lifestyle youtubers and best friends.

In their podcast they’re talking about their life, experiences, failed and successful dates, mental health and so on. I really like their chemistry, and how they’re managing to hold an equal and flowing conversations. Sometimes I really relate to what they’re going through, and sometimes I simply enjoying listening to someone else’s life. Either way, I always feel included in their conversations, I always laugh along at the jokes and get serious or sad when needed. I’ve been listening to their pod ever since the beginning, so I’ve probably listen to every single episode already. Take it from me- “Pretty Basic” is pretty great if you’re looking for a new laundry buddy.

Unsolicited Advice

Related to “Pretty Basic” and just as good is “Unsolicited Advice”. The co-host Ashley Nicole is Alisha Marie’s older sister, and also a lifestyle youtuber. Along with her best friend and co- host, Taryne Renee, the two give unsolicited advice to their listeners!

They talk about every-day, random struggles we all deal with- family drama, dating, best friends problems and work related stuff as well. Just like with “Pretty Basic”, I love the chemistry between the two, their jokes (especially dad jokes) and their big-sisters energy. I’ve listened to every episode of their podcast as well (except for an interview or something) and I love hearing how understanding and positive the girls are. I would really recommend this podcast as well, especially if you’re your friend group’s therapist.

Teenager Therapy

Speaking of therapy, “Teenager Therapy” is definitely the podcast for you if you’re, well, a teenager! It is a podcast created by five seniors in high school (they started the pod when they were sophomores I believe), in which they talk about their life- ups and lows, or in their words: “a podcast that’s a coming of age story portrayed in real time”.

I really like how their podcast is full of mistakes and failure as well as their successes. I really like how they disagree with each other in addition to supporting each other, and their “character development”. “Teenager Therapy” is truly an unfolding story line, and I really enjoy listening to how each of the guys (and Kayla) learn from their mistakes and repeat what they’ve done well. One of my favorite episode of theirs is the one where Gael, one of the guys, talks about a relationship he had with someone. Another favorite episode of mine is the one where they talk through their friendship and its problems. I would recommend this to anyone, especially to a teenager in high school. Their podcast is really one of those rare things in life that shows you how you’re not alone.

Extra Dynamic with ur mom ashley

The “Extra Dynamic” podcast is the last one for today. The podcast host is ur mom ashley, who’s a youtuber as well. In her podcast, Ashley is mostly talking to and interviewing her brother and sister, her parents, her boyfriend and her friends. They’re usually talking about life, catching up or talking about whatever big thing they have going on.

I’ve been watching Ashley and her siblings on YouTube for a while now, so I got excited when I heard that she’s starting a podcast. I enjoy listening to her podcast because it is so easy to relate to, it’s funny and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone really, as long as you’re interested in hearing a bunch of people having a conversation. I love it, I’ve listen to every episode and I’d do it again πŸ™‚

And that’s it!

Thank you so much for making it to the end of this blog. If you’d like, you can stick around and read some of my previous blog posts. Follow for future blogmas posts, as well πŸ™‚ Make sure to take care of your body and your mental health, remember to take a break when needed. I will see you tomorrow with a new blog! Happy December!

Toodles! 🎑

Welcome To Blogmas 2020! πŸŽ„

Hello world, and welcome to blogmas day one!!

Hey everybody! How have you all been? Happy December to you! Let me start off by saying: I’m planning on doing blogmas this year! Or at least try to. In case you didn’t know, “blogmas” (blog + Christmas) is a blog series in which the writer (me lol) posts one blog everyday, from the beginning of December until the 25th. Usually the topic of the blogs is somehow related to Christmas. Vlogmas (vlog + Christmas) are my favorite type of vlogs to watch, so I decided to do something similar here. Also this is my last year before joining the military, and I don’t want to wait a whole two years before I can do blogmas. So, here we are πŸ™‚

Before we get into this blog, let me give you some background information- winter is my absolutely favorite season. I love it so freaking much! I love the cold, I love having to wear many warm clothes, I love being all cozy… I love it! December is specifically my favorite month because of how cold and wintery it is! SO yeah.

Another thing you should probably know.. I’m actually Jewish! My mum was born in Europe, to a Christian mother, so growing up she always got to experience the Christmas vibe and spirit- in her home and also outside of it. Later on her family moved to Israel, and when she married my dad they decided to try and expose my brother and I to different cultures and holidays. Plus, my mum remembered how magical Christmas was when she was a child, and wanted us to have a similar memory. So, growing up, my parents would buy us a small Christmas tree and my brother and I would decorate it. Also Santa clause (aka my dad wearing a costume) would give us presents and sweets. My grandma, who is no longer Christian, still have a Christmas tree in her apartment and is now playing the role of Santa every December by giving us all sweets as well.

When I was in middle school we moved to the US for a few years, where I got to experience the full on Christmas package. And of course I fell in love with it. Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas for religious reasons, I still do so for the happy, warm feeling it brings with it, for the amazing songs and films, for the bright lights and magical vibes, for the opportunity to give back to my loved ones and of course for the chance to spend time with my family.

I’m excited to share with you everything that I do this month, especially the highlights from both worlds- Christmas and Hanukah as well. So, I thought what better way to start this second blog series on “ocean girl” than to show you how I prepared myself for this season! Behold, here’s how I decorated my room for December:

Here are the colorful lights that I placed around my window πŸ™‚

So… That will be it for now. This is a much shorter blog then I usually post, but I guess that it’s fine due to the fact that the next month is going to be crazy. I hope that I won’t go crazy trying to post daily, as I still have school and stuff. But I’ll do my best πŸ™‚

Feel free to stick around if you’d like to read previous posts, and follow if you’d like to see the next blog posts to come! Stay safe, healthy and take care. Happy holidays!

Toodles!
