Top 5 Books That I’ve Read During 2020

Hello world, and welcome to blogmas day thirteen! 🍂

How are you all? I hope that you’re doing well! Not a lot changed since yesterday- I posted blogmas day twelve kind of late, so ever since then I had time to take my dog out, eat breakfast and shower lmao. And here I am, writing this 🙂 I love reading books so much, so I figure that making a blog dedicated to books will be a good idea. 2020 has been a rough year, physically for some people, and mentally for others. I know many people that dealt with quarantine differently- some watched TV, others saw movies, read books or listened to music. Sadly I barely read during lockdown, partly because I was so mentally exhausted everyday, and partly because I just wasn’t in the mood to deal with characters’ lives and worlds, when I could barely figure out what’s going on in my own. But even though I didn’t read as much as I would’ve liked to, I have read some books, and here are my top 5, in no particular order.

1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

So this one is kind of a classic that I’ve read twice this year. It’s really festive, cozy and comforting. I love the Harry Potter series, and I really recommend it if you’re looking for something nice to read. In case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s a short recap for you- The book is following Harry Potter, who lives with his awful aunt, uncle and cousin. On his 11th birthday, Harry finds out that he’s a wizard, and not just any wizard, but the only one who survived a killing curse. Harry starts to go to Hogwarts- the school for wizards and witches. Along with his friends, Ron and Hermione, Harry finds out that something strange is up at Hogwarts. Together, they figure out the troubles and face a one of the strongest wizard in the wizarding world.

2. My Favorite Murder- Stay Sexy and Don’t Get Murdered by Karen Kilgariff & Georgia Hardstark

Even though I didn’t include it in my podcast recommendations post, My Favorite Murder is one of my favorite podcasts! I especially listened to it in the beginning of the year, so I got super excited when I found out that they wrote a book! My Favorite Murder is a crime podcast, but in their book Karen and Georgia tell real stories from their life, each of them ending with a life lesson. I really enjoyed reading their book, and might even read it again in 2021! I would recommend reading this book even if you haven’t listened to too many episodes of MFM, or even if you don’t really like true crime that much. The stories are really interesting and inspiring! I loved it <33

3. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Twilight is another classic, honestly. I know that many people have mixed feelings about this book series, but I personally think that it’s quite nostalgic and cozy in a way. I read this book in Hebrew, so that’s why it’s in Hebrew in the picture. This book follows Bella Swan, who moves to live in Forks with her father. She falls in love with a guy named Edward Cullen from her biology class. However, she soon finds out that maybe Edward isn’t as normal as she thinks he is… This book is really cute and romantic, and I would recommend it if you’re looking for a new series to dive into :))

4. Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

The same book as Twilight, except from Edward’s point of view. I don’t think that I’ll speak too much about it, as I previously wrote a whole review on the book! You can read it here if you’d like. If not, let me just say that it’s such a great book, especially if you liked Twilight. You get to learn so much more about the characters and about Edward and his thoughts. But anyway, great book. Would rate 10/10 no doubt.

5. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Okayy so this last one is definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read. It literally broke me. Not kidding. I had to rearange my entire room after reading it, cause I just couldn’t stand being trapped in there anymore. I’m not even gonna give you a short recap because I’ll start to cry. If you love romance- READ IT. It’s so damn good. Just trust me.
